The Hague Apostille Convention enters into force in August

The Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents was ratified by Brazil in December and will enter into force on 14 August this year. This convention will bring enormous reductions in cost and time in the legalization of foreign documents in Brazil (and Brazilian documents abroad). Upon entering into force, foreign documents will only need to be “apostilled” in the issuing country and sent for official translation to be valid in Brazil.
